Dr. Humayun Mohmand has over 17 years of experience performing hair transplanlt surgery and is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Certified by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He and his staff perform follicular unit hair transplantation using coronal angle grafting (C.A.G.), also known as “lateral” or “perpendicular” slit grafting.
Dr. Mohmand performs both FUT/strip and FUE at his clinic in Pakistan. Dr. Mohmand believes that FUE is a viable donor harvesting procedure and is optimal for smaller procedures. For larger cases and sessions however, Dr. Mohmand feels that FUT/strip is optimal since more can typically be harvested and transplanted in a single day and growth yield via strip is typially superior.
FUE is both time consuming and tedious however, Dr. Mohmand and his experienced staff is capble of doing 2500 to 3500 extra Follicular Unit Excisions (formerly known as Follicular Unit Extraction) in one day when appropriate for the patient. The cost per graft of FUE is also typically twice the cost of the standard follicular unit hair transplant procedure in which a strip of donor tissue is removed from the back of the head in form of a strip and trimmed under magnification into individual follicular unit grafts. Finally the follicles removed form the back is transplanted in to the recipient area. Dr. Mohmand can perform a combination of both FUT/strip and FUE in a single day for patients who are candidates for it.
